Camp Dart-Lo

Hi! My name is Tamara Korth (or Miss Tam at camp). I am thrilled to begin my second summer as the Camp Dart-Lo Director.  My academic background is in education, but my heart has always been at camp. I attended both Camp Dart-Lo and Camp Sweyolakan as a youth, and have been a staff member at both camps in the years since graduating from high school.  I have a Masters of Education from Eastern Washington, and completed undergrad at Gonzaga University. I see returning to camp as a way to blend my love of working with children and enjoying the wonders of the outdoors.

I first joined the Camp Fire staff in 1996. I was a District Director for the Council during the school year, then transitioned to the Assistant Director at Camp Sweyolakan during the summer, and even managed the Council's largest fundraiser, the Candy Fundraiser.  I enjoyed two summers as Director of Camp Sweyolakan before going to work for Spokane Public Schools in 1999.  As a camp administrator, I have the chance not only to work with campers in providing a fun, outdoor learning experience, but also to work with camp staff in developing their professional skills, and managing such an outstanding outdoor facility. 

I have a passion for learning and working with youth, families, and the community.  I believe my training and experiences will be valuable this summer.  

Professional accomplishments include:

• Member of  the American Camp Association Evergreen Section Education Committee and American Red Cross Inland Northwest Chapter Water Safety Committee
• Council Outdoor Skills Trainer, trained in ACA's NOLS curriculum
• College Board Reader for AP US History 2006 – 2008
• Training in Understanding by Design and CRISS

Camp Sweyolakan

My name is Peggy Clark (but my friends at camp know me as Miss Casey). I have been the Camp Director at Camp Sweyolakan for the last 10 fun-filled seasons. Sweyolakan truly is my home away from home and I can't wait to be out at camp and see everyone's smiling faces soon.

I grew up in Spokane and was a Camp Fire girl growing up. I remember wonderful camp outings and making new friends- I think that is where my love of the outdoors first began. I pursued a degree in Parks and Recreation from Eastern Washington University. Some people think that I have ALWAYS been at Sweyolakan, but my first job with Camp Fire was in 1967 at Camp Dart-Lo, Camp Fire's day camp in north Spokane. In 1969, I became the waterfront director at Camp Sweyolakan. Spending the summer down by the beach, teaching skills and ensuring safety, and making tons of friends in the process… This was the life!

My daughter, Erin, was born and so I took a "more grown-up" job in insurance. I continued to volunteer with Camp Fire. Seeing her go to camp and become a counselor, made me realize how much I missed camp. In 2001, I returned to camp once more- this time as the Sweyolakan Camp Director.
